Ingredients

  • ½ Tsb Baking Powder
  • 100g Softened Butter
  • 50g Golden Caster Sugar
  • Grated Zest of ½ an Orange
  • 175g Plain Flour

TO PREPARE THE ORANGE SHORTBREADS:

  1. Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. While it’s warming up, lightly oil a baking sheet.
  2. Beat the butter. Then cream it with the sugar and orange zest until light.
  3. Form a dough. To do this, stir in the plain flour and the baking powder and mix them together to form a dough.
  4. Divide the mixture into 10 balls or bars. And arrange them on a baking sheet. Press each ball flat with the tip of a round-bladed knife and piece little holes on the surface.
  5. Let the balls chill for 15 mins. Then bake for 12-15 mins until they turn a light golden colour.
  6. Leave on the baking sheet for 2 minutes. Then release them with a palette knife and slide them on to a rack to cool. Your orange shortbread biscuits will last up to a week if stored in an airtight container.
