HORACE'S HINTS - Bread & Butter Pudding

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Green's Egg Custard
  • 600ml milk (just over a pint, although a pint will work but the pudding is slightly thicker)
  • 6 slices white bread
  • 1 oz (25g) soft brown sugar
  • 2 oz (50g) currants or raisins

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Butter the white bread – remove crusts and cut each slice into 4 triangles
  2. Grease a (1 pint) oven proof dish
  3. Layer bread, butter side up then sprinkle with some of the sugar and raisins
  4. Repeat until all bread fruit and sugar is used up
  5. Prepare the egg custard as back of pack
  6. Carefully pour over the bread into the dish, allowing it to soak into the bread.
  7. Place in oven at 155 oC for a fan, 175oC for conventional oven, 345 F, Gas Mark 3 for 20 minutes until golden brown.
